For patients who are missing one or both rows of teeth, implant-supported dentures can help avoid many common inconveniences associated with traditional dentures. Traditional dentures require messy pastes or adhesives, can lead to slippage along the gums, and cause discomfort or irritation. With implant-supported denture systems such as All-on-4®, our experienced cosmetic dentist, John Cross, DDS, can offer superior security, stability, comfort, and aesthetics that help patients smile, eat, laugh, and speak with confidence.

What Is All-on-4®?
The renowned All-on-4® method offers full replacement of the upper and/or lower teeth with only four strategically placed dental implants per arch. All-on-4® is often a viable option for many individuals who are not good candidates for a full set of dental implants due to a lack of adequate jawbone density. In some cases, temporary fixed dentures can be placed the same day as the implant surgery, which eliminates the need to wait for implants to heal before restorations can be attached. Dr. Cross performs every stage of the fully customizable All-on-4®procedure at OC Lifesmiles, making the treatment process as convenient and consistent as possible.

Am I a Good Candidate for All-on-4®?
Wondering if you are a good candidate for All-on-4®? The best way to find out if All-on-4® is a solution for restoring your missing teeth or replacing your removable dentures is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Cross. He will perform a thorough dental exam, discuss your goals, and, if you are a good candidate, he can develop a customized treatment plan that suits your needs.
What Are My Tooth Replacement Options with All-on-4® Implants?
There are three main treatment plans that can be performed with All-on-4® dental implants: upper arch replacement, lower arch replacement, and full mouth restoration. Based upon the results of your oral exam and the discussion of your personal goals, Dr. Cross will help you decide which tooth replacement option can best suit your needs.
Upper Arch Replacement
Upper arch replacement is used to replace the entire upper row of teeth. The implant-supported denture is secured with four strategically placed implants.
Lower Arch Replacement
Lower arch replacement is used to replace the entire lower row of teeth. The implant-supported denture is secured with four strategically placed implants.
Full Mouth Restoration
A full mouth restoration is used to replace both the upper and lower rows of teeth. Each implant-supported denture is secured with four strategically placed implants for a total of eight dental implants.
How Does All-on-4® Work?
Once any remaining teeth have been extracted, four titanium implant posts must be surgically placed in the upper or lower jaw to secure each full arch of replacement teeth. Two implants are placed at the front portion of the mouth and two are angled toward the back; however, the exact positioning is customized to suit each patient’s unique dental needs. Dr. Cross plans and implements every stage of the procedure and custom-designs the full-arch restorations that attach firmly to each set of four dental implants. The result can be a new set of replacement teeth that surpasses the functionality of traditional dentures and offers a strong, natural-looking alternative to full-restoration with individual dental implants.
During placement of the dental implants, Dr. Cross prioritizes the safety and comfort of every patient, providing the appropriate level of sedation each individual requires. Dr. Cross has extensive training in both implant dentistry and sedation dentistry techniques and has a reputation for delivering successful outcomes using the All-on-4® method.

Additional Frequently Asked Questions
Can All-on-4® really be completed in a day?
Yes, Dr. Cross can complete the All-on-4® process in one day depending on the individual’s treatment plan. In one appointment, you can expect to have any necessary teeth removed, implants placed, and a temporary denture attached on top of the implants. Patients continue to wear the temporary teeth until their jawbone and gums are fully healed from the dental implant surgery. This gives patients some time to “test drive” the All-on-4® system as well. Once the dental implants are properly fused to the jaw bone, Dr. Cross will set up an appointment to remove the temporary attachment and affix the permanent All-on-4® denture on top of the implants.
Is the All-on-4® procedure painful?
Dental implants need to be placed in the jawbone before the All-on-4® denture can be attached. Dr. Cross numbs the surgical areas before the dental implant process so that the patient experiences as little pain as possible during the procedure. It is not uncommon to feel a little pressure while the dental implants are being placed, but many patients that receive an All-on-4® implant-supported denture say that the process is virtually pain-free.
After the anesthesia wears off and the numbing dissipates, patients may experience a minimal amount of pain where the implants were fused into the jawbone. This is normal and can often be easily managed by taking over-the-counter pain medications. After a few days, any soreness or discomfort should subside.
Is All-on-4® covered by insurance?
A portion of the costs of your All-on-4® treatment may be covered depending on the benefits included in your dental insurance plan. We advise patients to check with their insurance company to get the details on coverage for All-on-4® implant-supported dentures. If you are eligible to get a portion of the costs covered, our team can help you submit a claim to your insurer after treatment.
Is All-on-4® worth it?
All-on-4® can be a great investment for individuals seeking a long-term restorative dental solution for missing teeth. Many patients say that receiving All-on-4® implant dentures was worth it because they can comfortably and confidently smile and eat again.
Do All-On-4® results look and feel natural?
Dr. Cross performs All-on-4® treatments to restore smiles with outcomes that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. The All-on-4® system is designed to provide results that make it virtually impossible for others to tell that you have an implant-supported denture.
